The project deals with the issue of conversion of large former industrial areas, such as Olcese in Fiume Veneto. 100.000m2 available for new public buildings and residences of private initiative. The area has obvious peculiarity in his setup as "island in the flat landscape" of Pordenone. The project recovers the industrial buildings with its distinctive sheds like roofs, still in good shape, and turn them into the new town hall and other public bodies, located close to the existing nucleus of the village. A new housing development of 450 units defines the edge of the island, taking care to propose a “chess board” like colonizing system, able to preserve open views and rich typological variety. Four social housing interventions, buildings of a larger size and free shape footprint, mark the edges of the area.  A new central park is proposed to serve the new neighborhood, while some areas with sporting facilities bring together parts of the existing village, physically separated before by the industry self.
