Bi.m.ba. stands for Biblioteca multimediale per bambini or Children’s multimedia library, and it’s a project promoted by the Province of Gorizia. The library will occupy the ground floor of an existing building facing a garden with grown up trees, so a direct and visual connection with the park is a central point. A shelf system defines all blind parts of the whole perimeter of the building, liberating the central space for study and activities. A central core reassures room for services. The fil rouge of the project is a loop circulation system tangent to the book shelves, a kick for an early flanerie through the knowledge for the young woman and men of tomorrow. The whole system tries to find, under the guidance of the librarian, the dynamics of first social relations and interactions in an articulated sequence of spaces and situations, stimulating one own’s projectuality (the making of an activity related to the intellectual growth) through several possible reconfigurations and use of the space (the being in a place, and use it as a tool). The concept of learning is connected to the physical expression on one’s own desire (to move) and to the excitement of the discovery, supported by the books and media present in the library.
